Epidemics That Didn't Happen
I. Challenge
Resolve to Save Lives has long been focused on preparing countries for pandemics and helping prevent health crises before they happen.
The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the critical importance of public health organizations, both in the ongoing recovery and in preparing for future public health emergencies. Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL), an initiative of Vital Strategies led by former U.S. Director of the Centers for Disease Control, Dr. Tom Frieden, asked LGND to digitally illustrate the power of prevention in saving lives.

II. Solution
For RTSL’s inaugural report – Epidemics That Didn’t Happen – we crafted a compelling digital narrative, blending photography, data visualization, and video to bring these untold stories to life.
We redesigned the Epidemic Preparedness homepage as the central hub for RTSL to communicate its efforts and priorities. The homepage features custom animations, case studies, photography, and interactive design to educate stakeholders about the importance of epidemic preparedness and response.

We also developed an interactive map comparison tool. Using RTSL’s ReadyScore data and Foreign Policy’s COVID-19 Global Response Index, this tool allows users to compare various countries’ preparedness and response scores, effectively demonstrating why certain countries responded more successfully to COVID-19 than others.
